our story
The Iowa Icons started with a group of kids who simply loved playing baseball.
What began with coaching players in recreational baseball grew alongside them. As their skills, confidence, and love for the game developed, they became ready for a new challenge and the opportunity to compete at a higher level.
The Iowa Icons were created to give those players a place to continue growing together, challenge themselves, and experience competitive baseball in the right environment.
But our story isn't just about where we started. It's about where we're going.
As the Icons grow, we want to welcome new players and families who share our passion for baseball, believe in being great teammates, and want to be part of what we're building.
Some players have been here since the beginning. Others will become part of the story along the way.

The Iowa Icons proudly call this facility home at the GRB Academy in Waukee. It serves as the foundation for our player development, where athletes sharpen their skills, build confidence, and prepare to compete at a higher level. With year-round access to quality training space, our players receive consistent instruction in a focused environment that emphasizes fundamentals, repetition, and continuous improvement. Every practice is an opportunity to develop better baseball players—and even better teammates and leaders.
